THIS RAGGED GRACE WITH OCTAVIA BRIGHT
Tuesday, April 9 2024 - 7:00 p.m. -The Red Wheelbarrow

Octavia Bright will be joining us at The Red Wheelbarrow to discuss her debut memoir This Ragged Grace. From the co-host of the popular BBC Literary Friction podcast, This Ragged Grace tells the story of Octavia’s journey through recovery from alcohol addiction, and the parallel story of her father’s descent into Alzheimer’s. Looking back over this time, each of the seven chapters explores the feelings and experiences of the corresponding year of her recovery, tracing the shift in emotion and understanding that comes with the deepening connection to this new way of life. Over the course of this seven-year period, life continues to unfold. Paths are abandoned, people fall ill, waters get choppy, seemingly impossible things are navigated without the old fixes. As Octavia moves between London, the island of Stromboli, New York, Cornwall and Margate, each place offers something new but ultimately always delivers the same message: that wherever you go, you take yourself with you.

LEAP FOR JOY! February 29th, 2024 Geoffrey Finch launches 'THE HIDDEN VINEYARDS OF PARIS'

Join Geoffrey Finch to celebrate the publication of his book on ‘The Hidden Vineyards of Paris’, which tells the untold story of wine in Paris through the 31 vineyards that now flourish in the parks and gardens of almost every district of the city.

The history of the city’s vineyards today is a testament to the city’s past and provides a rich, multi-layered narrative that continues to evolve, just like its vineyards. There is poetry in wine and the whole history of civilisation in a living vineyard. Getting to know the Parisian vineyards is therefore another way of getting to know Paris.

Geoffrey Finch has been sharing his passion for wine and gastronomy in France for over 30 years. Teacher, translator, wine educator, and professional guide, he operates a series ofhistoric walks through Paris’s hidden vineyards, recounting the extraordinary story of the city’s origins through the perspective of a wine glass.

Thursday 29 February between 6:30-9pm at The Red Wheelbarrow Bookshop, 11 rue de

Hello friends,

Join us on October 2 at 4 PM for the book launch of A Career in Books, Kate Gavino’s newest graphic novel. This novel is for anyone who has always wanted to “work with books” and had NO idea what it entailed. It’s for those who were taken aback by that first paycheck. It’s for those who wanted a literary career even in the face of systemic racism, who dealt with the unique challenges of coming from an immigrant family, and whose group chat is their lifeline.

This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at 11 rue de Medicis 75006. To register for the event, please send us an email at parisredwheelbarrowbookstore@gmail.com.
