Julia Malye will be joining The Red Wheelbarrow to discuss her novel Pelican Girls. Inspired by a true story, this stunning story captures the never-before-told journey of the Baleine Brides: a ship full of young women plucked from a Paris asylum and sent to marry settlers in North America's rough Louisiana Territory. Among this group are three unlikely friends: a sharp-tongued twelve-year old orphan, a mute ‘madwoman,’ and an accused abortionist. Charlotte, Pétronille, and Geneviève, along with the dozens of other women aboard La Baleine, have no knowledge of what lies ahead and no control over their futures. Hello friends! After her successful event with us last September, Cara Black is back as promised with her newest novel - Murder in the Porte de Versailles. She will be in store to chat and sign her books on Wednesday, April 27 at 5 PM.

Her latest is the 20th installment of perennial favorite Aimee Leduc, a Parisian private investigator. This time around, Aimee is caught in a dangerous web of international spycraft and terrorist threats in Paris’ 15th arrondissement. As Aimee’s scours the streets to arrive at the truth, she finds herself also wrestling with the idea of moving out of her beloved Paris. Critics are calling this latest installment, taut, vivid, smart, rich in humanity and addictive momentum!
